Retrofits

We focus on improving the performance of your existing structure by updating the components that hold your desired temperature. We use 2 inches of R10 rigid foam insulation, which results in 30% additional insulation (approximately). This can equate to a 50% reduction in heating and cooling expenditure overall.

Windows and doors can account for up to 25 percent of total house heat loss.

To reduce your home energy consumption, in addition to installing exterior insulation, EarthCraft will perform a more comprehensive job by replacing all of your windows and doors, at the same time.

A house is being built with scaffolding around it.

Many window companies offer this service at a discounted rate without fully sealing and flashing new windows, leaving you with compromised performance. EarthCraft updates your building with higher quality windows and a high degree of air sealing—this is essential for energy conservation and thermal comfort.

Who Can Benefit from a Retrofit:

  • Homeowners
  • Residential single family
  • Multi-family complexes
  • Commercial

At EarthCraft we believe that if there is a 26% tax credit for solar there should be a similar tax credit for a retrofit.  At EarthCraft, we are currently researching and writing grant proposals to address this directly, on your behalf.

Building new, green structures is a great way to reduce energy loss, but what about all the folks with 30+ year old homes? These structures will not meet the current code minimum guidelines if built today. Our company works closely with city code officials and local energy auditors, to ensure your building meets the changing standards in energy performance.
