The homeowners desired to build a straw bale, energy-efficient home on their 40 acres in the foothills.
This home is custom, net zero, carbon neutral and very energy efficient.
The clients allowed us the freedom to work within the site’s limitations and opportunities, focusing on passive solar orientation to improve both the home’s visual appeal and functionality.
This design strategy significantly reduces energy consumption, as evidenced by the complete absence of HVAC usage from Jan.-Mar. 2023, accomplished through passive solar orientation and a single high-efficiency wood-burning stove.
